It went just fine. That is, the primary election in Ohio, conducted by snail mail. Joe Biden won, with more than 72% of the vote.    The Daily Mail reports a little confusion but not enough to ditch the possibility of conducting the November election also by snail mail.    OH is developing a brand as an early adopter. Before the coronavirus "arrived" in the state its governor Mike DeWine imposed Stay-at-Home.

An oddball phenomenon has been the college town. From Ann Arbor, Michigan to Cambridge, Massachusetts, the college town had been a platform for not only encountering new ideas but also creating them. Instagram Testing Out Concealing Likes - Will That Trend with Other Social Networks

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Such a trend could head off increased regulation of these digital platforms. In Australia, Instagram is testing out an app which conceals the number of likes. That tally will only be visible to the person doing the posting, not those viewing the material.    The hypothesis of that experiment is that relieving the pressure to pile up lots of likes will allow both posters and users to enjoy the social network more. Here are more details from The Daily Mail.

Making conferences with @NoWomenSpeakers visible: 7 trends I see

The Eloquent Woman

It's tough to be the eloquent woman when they won't even let you on the stage. And it's tough to make this issue visible when women speakers are invisible. Clickbait - Can Peter Thiel reverse that social media trend?

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Traffic, no matter what it takes. That, in a nutshell, is the playbook for clickbait in social media. The grand master of that had been (and maybe still is) Nick Denton. He founded his digital gossip tabloid Gawker on the platform of maxing traffic. That includes everything from page views to comments. Well, when Gawker aired the online video of Hulk Hogan having sex with a friend's wife, it got the expected outcome: high traffic. But it also got itself in the lawsuit "Hogan v. Gawker."

The Eloquent Woman

Lots of people assume that all TED talks are the famous 18 minutes long, and think that's plenty short enough. But in reality, the lengths of popular talks in this style are getting shorter and shorter. At least one TEDGlobal speaker I've worked with tells me that 14, rather than 18, minutes is the limit under discussion. But far shorter are the two-minute talks given by innovators featured in TEDMED's The Hive, bringing them to the main stage.
