Spam aka "Content Seeder"

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The term for spam is now, at least on the help-wanted , "Content Seeder."  "  No fool, the placer of the help-wanted did not identity itself.    All it indicates is it wants folks to leave comments on blog and video threads.    This opportunity is on Craigslist Costa Rica section.

PowerPoint: Spreading Visual Spam Beyond Presentations

Can You Hear Me Up the Back?

What’s the best thing about working in smaller companies? It’s being around people who can use the company kitchen to make simple snacks and refreshments without injuring themselves. Who can get stationery out of the cupboard without jamming their head in the door hinges or getting staples lodged up their nostrils. Who laugh at the dangers of residual heat in the toasted sandwich maker. At bigger companies, these things take a fearsome toll in human life.

Looks like spam, right? Especially since the e-mail right after it had the same subject line (with a comma after "hello") and was indeed spam. I honestly don''t know why I opened this one, but I did, and this person got lucky that her e-mail wasn''t sent to spam. Did you brush your teeth today? Did you brush your hair?

It is technically not against the CAN-SPAM Act to send an unsolicited message to someone, as long as you have an unsubscribe option available to them and you honor it within ten business days. Unfortunately, I think most of the people who add me to their mailing list have never heard of CAN-SPAM. But honoring CAN-SPAM doesn't protect you from someone reporting you as a spammer anyway.

Blogging = Branding/Networking/New Business Development Tool

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

That comes in myriad forms, ranging from spam comments to gadflies who piggyback on our content and misinterpret us. Soon enough the spam folks give up and move on to a more open venue. The blog remains a powerful tool for branding, networking and new business development. Since 2005, I have leveraged blogging as my primary marketing tactic. But some businesses still haven't set up one or don't invest the thinking and time required to make content unique aka clickbait.

If you don't want the relationship, don't ask for the favor: Part 2

Check your spam folder regularly. Occasionally, legitimate e-mail will go to your spam folder. When I ask if they've checked their spam folder, they reply back, "Oh, it was in my spam." I decided to add a Part 2 to my post If you don't want the relationship, don't ask for the favor after a recent experience where I gave a group of people a compilation of resources that they requested, and not a single person responded, even to let me know they had received it.

That Snow In Boston: Local PR Agencies Can Make It Big Suggesting Disruptive Removal

This is quite an opportunity for local public relations agencies to create tactics for disruptive removal.

Michelle Obama: Rhetorical effectiveness measured in tweets-per-minute

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

This could become the new form of spam on the web. Like Ann Romney's convention speech, Michelle Obama's told of a love story. Yet, the latter's was rated as more effective than that of Romney's wife.    The metric used is tweets-per-minute.    In POLITICO , Kevin Cirilli reports that Michelle's address received 23,003 tweets per minute and Ann's 14,289.

Politeness in the Workplace: Self-Test

Social Networks - Too Much of a Good Thing

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

That has been caused mainly by the social network's need to fight spam, fake accounts, and malicious rhetoric. Social network Twitter has joined Facebook in developing troubles with its user numbers. And that, as with Facebook, triggered a plunge in stock price. As Bloomberg reports, during Q2, Twitter's monthly usage number were down 1 million - from 336 million to 335 million.

New comments and posting policies

The Eloquent Woman

Unfortunately, of late, both blogs have seen a great increase in two kinds of spam comments: the robotic kind--sometimes in massive attacks--and the promotional "I'm going to write a clever comment with backlinks to my book/post/website" kind (which might also be called "get your own blog" comments). Both are in violation of my existing comments policy, and both have proven problematic in terms of attracting robotic spam.

Communicating with Twitter - don't waste the opportunity

Dahle Communication

LinkedIn Communities - Maybe Some Articles Should Be Targeted for Third-Party Media

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

But its reach can be circumscribed by what can be defined as "spam." Opinion-editorials, articles and hard news published in third-party media have more influence, build more brand equity and create a pull force in selling than does material published on social networks.  Those networks include LinkedIn.    Sure, LinkedIn is one of the most powerful professional networking tools.

Those Six Degrees of Separation: Keep 'em that way
