Non-Disclosure Agreements - The Elephant in the Room

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

However, throughout the process, the elephant in the room was and is the client conviction that the content was breakthrough. It's NDA time. Even contract workers like myself are being hit with pages and pages of Non-Disclosure Agreements - that is, NDAs. Increasingly, they contain provisions which have little or actually nothing to do with the scope of the tasks. Or with protecting the client interests. One reason for that is this: They are created by lawyers.

I've experienced two odd conference room configurations in the last month, and I thought I would share them with you. When I'm booked for a training, I send the organizer a diagram with my preferred room setup. But of course, you can't always get what you want, and I've ended up in some pretty weird training rooms. But many rooms not only have no option for a portable screen, they have no space for one, either.

Losers and Winners - Showtime's "The Loudest Voice in the Room"

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Tonight at 10 PM New York time, Showtime will broadcast the television interpretation of Gabriel Sherman's "The Loudest Voice in the Room." The objective, it could be concluded, was to distract attention from Sherman's new release in 2014 "The Loudest Voice in the Room." And, of course, it was the best kind of publicity for "The Loudest Voice in the Room."

I've found that by giving everyone in the room the same level of energy - and not taking it personally when someone doesn't appear to be paying attention - I still manage to reach those who seem unreachable. Public Speaking: Room Blackouts

Great Public Speaking

If you want to make a spectacular impression on a low budget, room blackouts are a great technique. I would either project a picture of JFK, or MLK if I had the capability, or I would totally darken the room (except for the red exit signs, or whatever lights are mandatory for emergencies). I use them in two ways. If I want the audience to concentrate on a recorded audio tape and 2. when I want an awesome closing.

Green Room Speakers: Move Purposefully

To the extent that my pacing has a purpose, it is so I can be a physical presence in various parts of the room at different times during the class, make eye contact with more students, listen to their questions better, try to see what they are seeing when I project something/write something at the front of a large classroom, or just because I get kind of hyped up when I teach and I feel like moving. Make a Room Appear Fuller
