Macy's Versus J.C. Penney - The Story At Tucson, Arizona Mall

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Here at the Tucson, Arizona Mall, Macy's and J.C. I purchased them all for under a hundred bucks. You can't sell, at least not to Everywoman, unless you are providing an extreme bargain. Penney are based in the same section. As I drive in, Macy's is on the left, J.C. on the right. I always head right. Once in J.C. I gleefully endure long lines to get into the dressing room and to then check out. On those lines other shoppers and I gush about the deals.

World Market, Tucson Mall - ID Demanded For Credit-Card Use In Vintage Americana

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The Tucson Mall in Arizona is one of those vestiges of Norman Rockwell times. Last Christmas I purchased all my gift cards there.  One store my dog, Lily of the Valley, and myself won't be purchasing at is World Market. Everyone is friendly. Prices are affordable. And most of the stores there welcome our four-footed children.   Next holiday season it will be different.

Landlord Nation - Shocker at Weidner's Vista Montana, Tucson, AZ (bring along something to wash the walls)

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

There, at least in Tucson, where I lived in   Vista Montana , owned by   Weidner , for 27 months, property managers don't have to renew your lease. When I left and moved into houses I had purchased that standard wasn't required.   Better yet, since property in the Tucson area tends to be affordable, you might consider buying. I would have purchased a condo or small house.  So much for the American Dream.

Art Cinema Theatres, Like The Loft, Tucson, AZ - Can They Survive Amidst Netflix et al.?

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Yesterday I went to the Art Cinema Theatre - The Loft - in Tucson, Arizona. free film videos available at the public library, and film videos which can be purchased for peanuts and played over and over again? Just as I experienced at the art cinema theatres in Madison and New Haven, Connecticut, the audience was mostly Baby Boomers like myself. The film was the sci-fi "I Origins." " So, I anticipated a more heterogenous group.

Macy's, Your Pricing Is Too High

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

In the Tucson, Arizona Mall, Macy's and JCPenney stand almost side-by-side. I have never been in that store, at least not since I moved to Tucson in 2014.   A few Saturdays ago, I purchased four brandname tops and one brandname pair of slacks at Penney for a little over $40. I was able to apply two $10 coupons to that purchase.  In the fitting rooms and checkout lines in Penney, shoppers wait patiently for service.

Senior Housing - Broken Brand

In addition, telemedicine makes it increasingly possible for the elderly to age at home, be that their family house or an apartment in a multi-generation residential complex in Tucson, Arizona. At the top of the list is purchasing a house or condo in a 55+ community. What I also discovered when I visited former classmate Kathleen Huebner in her supposed piece of Paradise outside Tucson was the lack of a sense of, yes, a neighborhood.

HEAT WAVE! - Wal-Mart Turns Up AC

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

It was last week, I realized, that the amazing heat wave grabbed us by the throat here in Tucson, Arizona. No surprise I am winding up purchasing no-need items. Got it. Finally I have been able to connect the dots on why I have been spending so much time shopping in Wal-Mart since last week. On some days it was 114 degrees. So, I made it my business to shop in stores where the temperature was downright cold. Wal-Mart tops the list.

PetSmart, Thank You For Not Cross-Selling

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

So, it was a relief to go to PetSmart to get my dog's nails clipped ($9) and purchase 10 cans of Cesar Grilled Chicken Flavor in Sauce (70-cents each).  Instead of asking around Tucson, Arizona about a "good" vet (i.e.  Unlike in New Haven, Connecticut, in Tucson it's full service.  No more Norman Rockwell ethos when we do business with an increasing number of vet services.  There's a glut out there of both vet practices and vets.

Staples, Tech & Small Business - Mahria Barango To The Rescue

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Yesterday was my first tech crisis in my new location - Tucson, Arizona.   Well, technology, no surprise, had changed since I had purchased that one.   The new system I purchased in Staples might have been designed on Mars.  The client wanted documents scanned.  My old user-friendly scanner had given up its last on the journey from New Haven, Connecticut to the Southwest.

Aging Executive Communications Players Who Lost It All - No, You Don't Have to Think Ecuador

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

And the cost of an apartment was about as much as my rental in 2014 in Tucson, Arizona. When I got it that Tucson, AZ was not where I and my business could thrive, I researched where else I could parachute into. Food purchased at the supermarket had gone down across the nation. It's happening all the time. They were riding high in communications jobs, including ghostwriting and speechwriting, in major metro areas. Then age bias hit hard.

The Rental Economy: That changes the rhetoric of sales, pitching

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

In Tucson, Arizona, where I recently relocated my ghostwriting/scriptwriting shop, I am renting a modem from Cox. Back in New Haven, Connecticut I had purchased a Netgear one for my AT&T DSL line. In the past few years, as I opted to lease an apartment, not purchase a condo or house, friends pestered less and less about "wasting my money" on rentals.  IBM struggles as the economy shifts from buying to renting.

The Tucson-Phoenix regions had sustained 122-degree temperatures. Both purchasing property and rentals are low-cost. Southwestern Arizona. That was a favorite of those considering retirement/semi-retirement. Then there were the summers of 2016 and 2017. The media articles on the most affordable coastal towns listed those in Texas. Harvey made those rule-outs. With the threat of Irma, the old-standby-Florida-doesn't look so promising.

The co-op I had purchased on the Upper East Side of Manhattan was jinxed. Tucson, Arizona, it turned out to be. So, how did Tucson work out? See, the ambiance in Tucson is southern-laid back. Here in low-cost-of-living Tucson, I don't even have to think about money. I couldn't produce one smackdown for any client.

On September 1st , I blew into Austintown from Tucson, Arizona. So, on September 2nd, I purchased a bed and frame, new. That was applied to my purchases. In Austintown, Ohio, the Goodwill Store at 6000 Mahoning Avenue is packed with shoppers. That's when other discount retailers such as the dollar stores are empty.    One reason is that Goodwill Retail has established itself as the best value brand around.  Plus,

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

A post by a college acquaintance for sunglasses I could happily purchase for under $35. What shot through my mind was: Why the hell is someone who really doesn't know me that well pestering me with sunglasses she considers I should purchase. Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

On the two-hour commute back to Tucson, Arizona I take in a tourist attraction. Since 2003, I have purchased my detergent at the dollar store. I purchase my office supplies at Wal-Mart. P&G has been a non-performer for a while. And, Jennifer Reingold in Fortune explains how it's trying to get its mojo back. In essence, the company which invented brand management in the 1930s has mostly irrelevant brands.

Campbell Avenue, Tucson, Arizona. Yes, I could afford that, even with purchasing the latest model iPhone.  Can adding a landline phone be a game-changer in a ghostwriting/speechwriting business? That's my hunch. It's only been 24 hours since I placed a landline in my home office and two new accounts have come my way. I sense the clear reception on the phone as I pitched to prospects in Houston and Los Angeles was the tipping point.

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

When I was based in the supposed Retirement Paradise of the Tucson, Arizona area, commonplace was that moment of clarity when those retired realized they had to scout up more income.  There was collective action to share services and goods so that we didn't need to purchase so much. Landlords-Tenants - Operation of the Invisible Hand

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Several years ago, in Tucson, Arizona, at the end of the lease, my rent went up about $50 a month. To make their housing money go far they are purchasing in what used to be sarcastically called "fly-over country." The gallows humor was: We kept up our credit rating not to get the best rate on mortgages but even to be able to rent an apartment. That ordeal could be worse than applying to get into a T-14 law school. It was the time of Landlord Nation.

Here in the northside of Tucson, Arizona, hearts aren't very open to the homeless. The headline for the New York Post article reads "Bums declare war on Christmas." Before Frugal Went Cool
