One Writer’s Tale of Self-Publishing

Six-Figure Freelancer Blog

In 2009, 76% of all books released were self-published, according to Publishers Weekly. The number of self-published print and e-books continue to grow exponentially while the number of books issued by traditional publishers declines. This trend is being fostered by both independent authors and the new wave of print on demand (POD) publishers who publish books for would-be authors lacking the technical skills to otherwise self-publish.

Do e-book sales cannibalize print sales?

Six-Figure Freelancer Blog

For most of my books, my monthly e-book sales now equal, and often exceed, my print book sales. A fellow author asked me if I felt my e-book sales were cannibalizing my print book sales, i.e., if I was simply selling as many books as I would have sold if I had only print books (no e-books) available. Meanwhile, sales for print books that are not available in e-format climb slowly (steadily, but slowly); they never spike the way sales for books available in e-format do.

iPad - Will it save print publishing?

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Print publishers seem to be betting their future with the iPad.    That device in the long term could prevent the industry from losing all power over pricing to the dominant Amazon.com.    But the big if is if the device becomes mainstream. And the price point might be dead wrong for that.    The range is about between $500 through almost $900.    Will we spend that for yet another device?

Public Speaking Business - Kindle For Self Publishing

Great Public Speaking

Publishing a book has always been a good idea, but until now, it has been a complicated and costly endeavor. And if you think digital publishing is not really 'being published'. There are more digital versions of books being sold on Amazon, iTunes and Barnes and Noble than printed books. You can write, publish and sell a book (or many books) with a very minimal investment. The power of digital publishing goes far beyond just name recognition.
