Out-Migration - Newest Trend in Bay Area

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The three most popular destinations for them are Sacramento, Portland, and Austin.  The ultimate cool was to live in the Bay Area. Everything was there, ranging from geniuses doing their own thing (and becoming billionaires) to breathtaking natural beauty.   Everything is still there. But, as Len Ramirez reports , it's no longer affordable. Even elite professionals can't buy a house. Also, two things have been added that long-term Bay Area residents don't like.

Big Brands, Such as Roman Catholic Church, Struggle with Sexual Assault Lawsuits

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The Archdiocese in Portland put it in play. Victims of alleged or proven sexual assault are pushing back with lawsuits. One way the large organizations, designated as defendants, are responding is with what is being called "mass tort bankruptcies." " That legal strategy, reports Tom Corrigan at The Wall Street Journal , was first used by the Roman Catholic Church. Now that model is being leveraged by USA Gymnastics and the Boy Scouts of America.

The Man on the Train - Bad Take on Freedom

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The horror of two murders on the MAX train in Portland, Oregon might be the result of craziness. Or just being naïve about what "freedom" legally means in America. According to the media , the suspect in the murders said: "This is free America, I can do whatever I want." " He assumed that included the freedom to harass two female passengers, one wearing the hijab. When three Good Samaritans stepped in, he felt free to oppose them. Two died.

In tabloids we trust - Gore story and more

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The PORTLAND TRIBUNE, a piece of the mainstream media, didn't dig into the allegations about sexual misconduct by Al Gore.      And now, reports  Keach Hagey in POLITICO.COM, it appears it indeed might have committed a sin of omission, just like the Portland, Oregon police. All this is making it clear that there are few institutions in America we can trust.    The mainstream media and the police frequently cave to the powers-that-be.

It Gotta Be Kiddin' - New Recovery Publication Wants Articles, Offers No Payment

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

So, it seems misguided for a new recovery publication to request on Craigslist - Portland, Oregon Section - articles without providing payment. What's not paid for has no value. That's the gospel of capitalism. That's why in my coaching service for the over-50 I had a sliding scale fee schedule. Even for those chronically unemployed, it's not for free.    One might decry capitalism's brutal ethos. But that's the way it is.

Furries and Fluid Identities: Will the concept of the "self" wind up in the U.S. Supreme Court?

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Furries, that is human beings dressed up in animal attire, have been banned in a public library in Portland, Connecticut.    Let's cut to the chase: The library fears that a Disney-like creature could lure a child away and that will be that.    However, reasonable people also know that any adult with an open attitude and an incentive ranging from M&Ms peanut to a box of Legos can lure a child away.

There are times when they do not use all the W5 points they find. Either way, W5 is the place to start.

Paul Hawken is an environmental activist and author who gave the commencement address at the University of Portland.
