You Don’t Know Dick!

Manner of Speaking

It is the 4 August 2005 Keynote Address that Hardt gave at the O’Reilly Open Source Convention in Portland, Oregon. A remote would have allowed Hardt to move about the stage and thus interact more with the audience.

Presenting with an iPad

The Presenter's Blog

Just flip open, and there’s the presentation ready to go. There are three big ones: No reliable remote control. iPad remote control apps are available, but I’ve experienced their WiFi / Bluetooth connections as too shaky to be relied on in front of an audience.

You Don’t Know Dick

Manner of Speaking

It is the 4 August 2005 Keynote Address that Hardt gave at the O’Reilly Open Source Convention in Portland, Oregon. Two things leap to mind: (a) he spent much of that time talking to the computer; and (b) he was “chained” to the computer because he was not using a remote control to change the slides. A remote would have allowed Hardt to move about the stage and thus interact more with the audience.

Sussing out your speaker space: A checklist

The Eloquent Woman

The room--especially its technology--is one of the six sets of questions in my checklist to prepare the whole speaker. Is there a remote and a portable microphone so I can control my technology if I move away from the front? open-square?

Designing Choreographies for the New Economy of Attention

http://delicious.com/akarrer/prospeaker

We do not take a position on the efficiency of new technologies for delivering educational content or their efficacy of competing for users’ time and attention. Are these new technologies reshaping human attention in ways that undermine key practices of teaching and learning?

8 things I learnt about using twitter as a participation tool : Speaking about Presenting

http://delicious.com/akarrer/prospeaker

Olivia Today, I presented a session remotely at the Presentation Camp at Stanford University, California. I don’t know whether this would be such an issue in a standard conference presentation (the fact that I was a remote presenter and that the presentation was about using twitter in a presentation - made it very tweet-focused). There were only eight people in the room tweeting (some also tweeting remotely) but they managed to generate over 80 tweets in 40 minutes!

How to Present While People are Twittering | Pistachio

http://delicious.com/akarrer/prospeaker

Up until now, this back-channel has been mainly confined to the Internet industry and technology conferences. If the speaker openly invites people to twitter to tweet during the presentation does it have the unintended consequence of people listening and not tweeting?
