Well, this issue of blackmail has reared its ugly head in the career of Missouri governor Eric Greitens. That's the #1 peril of having trusted servants caught up in matters of the heart.

Going to college w/o separation angst

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Among the colleges with a pet-friendly policy is Stephens College in Missouri.  Research studies are probably already going on: is there less self-destructive behavior among college freshmen who bring Fido or Muffy along with them to college?   A special dorm called Pet Central has been set aside to accommodate students who won't have to endure separation angst, at least not concerning their pet.

Curtain imagery from Winston Churchill and John Major

Max Atkinson

At Fulton, Missouri in 1946, he spoke of an "iron curtain" that had "descended across the continent" of Europe (for more on which, see also HERE & HERE ) : Far from prompting those who heard it to start saying things like "What curtain?" Looking through video clips for a conference presentation, I came across one that I've often quoted as an example of how effectively a simple metaphor can be used to get a point across.

Giving Thanks for Mark Twain

DeFinis Communications

Biographer Ron Powers regaled us with stories from his hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. This year, 2010, marks the centennial year of the death of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (a.k.a., Mark Twain). It is also his 175 th birthday and the 125 th anniversary of the American publication of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It’s a big year for Twain, and I’m sure he’s bummed that he’s not here. But there’s no need to worry. There are stand-ins in abundance.

Good Riddance, "Sunday Night" - No Breakthrough Segments, No Theatrical Quality in Megyn Kelly's Presentation

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Last May, J&J was ordered to pay $110 million in a Missouri court verdict. This is the last episode of "Sunday Night," hosted by Megyn Kelly. And the collective feeling seems to be a sigh of good riddance. The programming, as usual, is stale.

Humor Power

It opened with a panel of four, top comedy magicians which included Tom Mullica, famous for his Tom Foolery night club in Atlanta and his tribute to Red Skelton performed in Branson Missouri. As Americans push beyond the missionary position

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Americans, such as Tiger Woods and former Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton, have been pushing beyond the missionary position.  BDSM or rough sex seems to be the new frontier.    However, the results have been mixed, as we know. From the tone of the mistress's report of the hair-pulling and the wanting to spank by Woods it seems that she wasn't exactly a happy camper.    In law they call that non-consensual.

Thinking Like a Tourist

Humor Power

My first Cable Car ride was on a return trip as a tourist after I had moved to Missouri. I remember hearing of someone who lived in New York City and had never been to the Statue of Liberty. They could see the statue from their apartment window. I can relate to that. I lived in the San Francisco bay area for twelve years. During that time, I never took a ride on a Cable Car. To add interest and diversity to your life I recommend thinking like a tourist.
