Gideon McKean and his friends were knocking around a ball near Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, Maryland. This most recent for the Kennedy family started out in a playful manner. He was the son of the granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean and daughter of former MD Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. The latter is the daughter of Robert and niece of John F. Kennedy. The ball blew into the water. Mother and son jumped into a nearby canoe to retrieve it.

New York time in Aberdeen, Maryland. The media will give more than 15 minutes of fame, then it will facilitate suicide. That seems to sum up the kind of phenomenon which has played out yet again. This time it began a bit after 9:00 A.M. As usual, there were multiple fatalities and multiple injuries. The surprise was that the alleged shooter is still alive. It was a she. And she is in critical condition.

Yes, you could get beat up and die. Or the penalty will be dished out later, as in being jumped or your windshield smashed a month later for seemingly no reason.

His current job as Governor of Maryland generates myriad opportunities for media to interview him about the crisis in Baltimore. Those in the Anyone-But-Hillary camp now have Martin O'Malley. They will probably pull out all stops to fundraise and maximize media opportunities. But O'Malley has lots more going for him than that. At the top of the list is his age. He is 50 years old versus Hillary Clinton's 65.

District Court for the District of Maryland ruled that the firing was a result of "poor communications skills, aggressive emails to his boss, and a resistance to change following a reorganization." The red flag in this kind of supposed age discrimination lawsuit is this: The plaintiff Joseph Mott was 61 years old when hired as an in-house lawyer role by management consulting firm Accenture. Yet, in his lawsuit he contends he was terminated for age discrimination.

Maryland, though technically part of the USA during the Civil War, is really, as a friend reminded me, part of the South in many ways. Instead of the world continuing to be entirely a man's, we and our sisters were told that we could re-make it into an entity in which we also had power. And that we did. That was the 1970s. We were young. We were on the way to the top of corporations.

She grew up in a suburb of Maryland where those government spooks and military types lived. International clothes designer Vicky Tiel made it quickly, right after she graduated from Parsons. Usually that would have ended up as a genius who peaked too soon and self-destructed or just went out of style. The meme of this second decade of the 21st century is: moments. Twitter captures them in text and photos. It even has a section marked that way. Selfies give our moments visual power. And, smart marketers such as kglobal public affairs blur the line between personal and professional moments, especially on Facebook.

It was a three hour afternoon session on Martin Luther King day in Baltimore, Maryland. I recently had one of the toughest speeches of my career. It was difficult for many reasons, but one of the most trying was that the audience consisted of all the employees of one company. They ranged from the lowest level to the highest level in the company. When you have all managers or all executives, it is relatively easy to hone in on their interests and concerns.
