Mainstream Media - Infrastructure Crumbling?

Champions of retaining mainstream media [MSM] contend that is necessary to ensure factual accuracy.    This is an arrow in the heart of the push to mainstream mainstream media through government help. Knowledge is power when presenting

The Presenter's Blog

Mainstream media once provided a rich source but today, chasing the quickest buck at the lowest cost, most media outlets offer a diet of celebrity-drenched trivia. When we make a presentation we occupy the space defined by Peter Drucker as that of a “Knowledge Worker”, someone who “works primarily with information”. Our goal is to inform and persuade. Information is the bedrock of our ability to do that.

Boxing Needs To Incorporate Media Training…Immediately

Matt Eventoff

Boxing needs to adopt media training immediately. What is missing, and has been for the past three decades , is the ability to communicate with the media in a way that allows the sport to cross over into the mainstream. Media training can, and would, change that.

Famous Speech Friday: Melania Trump's speech at the Republican convention

The Eloquent Woman

Mainstream media pundits called it a "catastrophic" occurrence, and at least one suggested it was sabotage from within the campaign. Before the convention, Melania Trump had told at least one media outlet that she had written the speech herself "with as little help as possible."

'Telegraph' or 'Sleazygraph': the ethics, uses and results of covertly recorded conversation

Max Atkinson

Following the covert bugging of Vince Cable by two people sent by the Daily Telegraph to pose as constituents attending his surgery, the media has been making quite a meal of it. There are a number of reasons why I've risked 'coming out' as more sanctimonious than most Twitterers, bloggers and mainstream media journalists. Nor do I think they can have given much thought to the new standards of media reporting that they were helping to establish as 'normal'.

Demand Media - Profitable model for business, bottom-fishing for writers

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Demand Media, which usually pays writers $15 for a well-researched original article, is thriving as a business.    It will do even better, reports VANITY FAIR, if it sells that content to mainstream media. For writers who supply that content, though, that process represents bottom-fishing.    Some writers might consider the arrangement a type of internship where they can build experience and a portfolio.    Nothing wrong with that strategy.
