Typically the connection for the projector is taped down to the lectern. I don’t speak behind a lectern because it creates a physical barrier between the audience and the presenter. It plugs in to the headphone jack on the laptop, and it can also be used to play music from an MP3 player if you want to. I was speaking at the CSAE Trillium Chapter Winter Summit last Friday.

I’ve also had good luck with the Kensington 33374 because it only uses the batteries when the USB receiver is plugged into the computer, and when you’re not using it, there’s a secret compartment that pops right back into the presenter so you don’t lose it. It might be nice to place it on the lectern in front of you.
