Six straightforward speeches then facing up to a problematic presentation

Nick R Thomas - A Public Speaker's Blog

Public Speaking Tip #467: If you are speaking in a bar at a venue such as a Conservative club, do bear in mind that the lighting may be quite dim so you will need to speak from the best spot you can find under a light. I was struck by the fact that, despite being such a small place, the Woodfalls area actually has at least three different venues where groups can meet. These have been pretty successful overall, really no different from speaking in other types of venues.

One of the great advantages of working in venues like this is that you will have the assistance of the theatre's technical crew and I must thank Elgan Howells for sorting out the lighting for where I would be on stage at various points during the talk and ensuring excellent sound. Public Speaking Tip #463: If you are speaking in a theatre, let the technicians know your requirements - this isn't a luxury that will be available in most other venues! Redhill and Reigate U3A.

A successful presentation may lead to enquiries about speaking in other areas. I was met at the station by two members who acted as human sat-navs to walk me to the venue (something of a first!). Public Speaking Tip #482: Tailored local references in presentations can also include somewhere nearby that you passed through on the way, not just the location of the venue itself. Litigation Financing - Beyond the Raw ROI

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Those doing the funding are in the game to make a buck and so they assess cases carefully to determine if they can lead to a big settlement or award. They may even apply algorithms to test out the variables such as the judge assigned or the venue. It was Peter Thiel's funding of "Hulk Hogan v. Gawker" which brought litigation financing to the attention of both business and Main Street.

Professionally Speaking...

I hadn't thought much about the venue or where at the table I would sit [shame on me] because these are all colleagues whom I meet with monthly. Sitting back comfortably in your chair will lead to slouching which can have an effect not only on how you come across but on how you breathe.

More nails in the coffin of political speech-making in Britain?

Max Atkinson

At the same time, the politicians are also doing their bit to eliminate much of the passion and liveliness that were once a normal part of political rallies - by speaking in rather strange venues to audiences with little or no interest in politics, and certainly no motivation to applaud or boo anything they might hear. These clips are intended to illustrate the trend by comparing leading politicians from 30 Years ago with leading politicians of today.

Stand or sit, and why does it matter?

Speak Schmeak

However, there are a variety of formats for what can be considered public speaking, such as leading a meeting, making a sales call, participating in a panel or round table discussion, or speaking to individuals at a networking event. At conference tables, on panels, and in other small venues, it can be considered awkward to stand when speaking. When we think of public speaking, the traditional image that comes to mind is a person standing in the front of a room full of people.
