John Cleese recently reunited with the cast of Fawlty Towers in order to promote two documentaries about the sitcom which is now 30 years old. Some reading this (when I say some I mean all one of you), will disagree with me. Some suggest you can learn to be funny. In my experience, people like this, myself included, have been stuck using techniques that stifled their own sense of humour.

Bala is a talented Observational Humorist. Today is Hillary’s birthday, October 26. Bala and I have written some thoughts about the birthday event. Bala recently competed at his Division Humor Speech Contest and took home the third-place trophy. Marvelous Marv, a high-energy entertainer, Introduced me as a Humorist. When I was introduced as a Humorist, I know many of you were thinking: “This guy is going to be funny? When I turn my head to the right I look like a Humorist. It has been awhile since I published an Observational Humor monologue. Things have changed in my personal life during that the las three years too… In 2012 I became the proud owner of a son, still not quite sure of the correct terminology, which means I’m now a stay at home humorist. Blackadder: Where have you been Flash?

In case you’re wondering how a public speaking blogger ended up being in a feature film, well I have a background as a professional actor and this film was the last thing I did before I made the transition to being a humorist and coach. Sisterhood Gets a DVD release! If you are a regular reader you would have read about an appearance that I made in a low budget movie called Sisterhood.

From the perspective of a comedian or humorist this then gets refined in front of live audiences. John Cleese recently reunited with the cast of Fawlty Towers in order to promote two documentaries about the sitcom which is now 30 years old. But he said that people wanting to learn to be a comedian or comedy writer didn’t put in as much hard work as they did back in the 1970s. He criticised the fact that there doesn’t seem to be a wealth of talent any more.
