Presentation tips for PowerPoint

Craig Strachan - Keep Talking!

Long extension leads & multi plugs – so you can plug in wherever the plug points are. This prevents you from making eye contact with the audience, and prevents them from hearing you. This is an extract of a training session that I present “Putting the POWER back into PowerPoint”. Nowadays, many of us use PowerPoint for our presentations.

Weather-crisis Fatigue: Sandy isn't a bonding force

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The few folks at Barnes & Noble Cafe which could plug their laptops into an outlet didn't make eye contact when we asked if we could recharge ours, even just for 15 minutes.  Sandy isn't a force for unity. Before so many recent weather crises and so many days without electric power or an Internet connection, preparations for coming storms would bring us together.

To read or not to read? That is the question for speechwriters - or is it?

Max Atkinson

As with the last one ( HERE ), he'd pulled yet more rabbits out of the hat, including speakers from Russia and the Netherlands, rounding it off with a memorable double act starring Graham Davies and Phil Collins (even though it was an extended plug for a forthcoming book that might compete with mine). Reading from a script can sometimes (though by no means always) result in an unacceptable loss of eye contact and rapport with your audience.

Week 10: What to think about appearance

The Eloquent Woman

Don't let that put you off, and do use color as a way to focus eyes on you.

20 tips for better conference speaking ~ Authentic Boredom

http://delicious.com/akarrer/prospeaker

Keeping the audience eyes’ on you rather than their laptops benefits both you and the audience. Make eye contact. I’ve also had good luck with the Kensington 33374 because it only uses the batteries when the USB receiver is plugged into the computer, and when you’re not using it, there’s a secret compartment that pops right back into the presenter so you don’t lose it.
