How to Triple Your Back of the Room Book Sales Every Time You Do a Public Speaking Engagement

Craig Strachan - Keep Talking!

In fact, just this month I did three speaking engagements at multi speaker events and I outsold all the other speakers put together. Today I want to give you a low pressure technique that can give you way more sales than when you nervously wait till the end of your talk to suggest people buy your book. You might use the three best parts if you are speaking for several hours. 10 Myths of Public Speaking 1) I can wing my presentation. Guest post by Tom Antion.

"Perfection is finally attained, not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away." ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, aircraft designer and author of The Little Prince I'm fortunate that, in most of my speaking, I'm not required to be particularly concise. My speaking engagements are mostly trainings that range from three hours to three days, and there's a lot of room for spontaneous stories and discussion built into my workshops.

Public Speaking Techniques - How to Close a Speech

Great Public Speaking

Even the most serious public speaking subjects can benefit from humor, but the humor should be sprinkled throughout the body of the presentation. This same technique can be very effective in ending a mostly humorous speaking engagement. Don't be afraid to use humor when you speak in public. Public speaking has never been easier than this One of the worst mistakes you can make as a public speaker is talking too long.

engage your audience with new media

The Eloquent Woman

From the start, this speaking engagement posed a number of challenges. It was the dreaded after-dinner talk, meaning I needed to be super-engaging. The crowd was due to number close to 100, ensuring extra work to keep that size crowd engaged. So my biggest challenge would be using old-fashioned tools--slides, a mic and my live speaking skills--to describe a new frontier of communications.

Take it away Angela… You show up to your speaking engagement only to realize that your PowerPoint presentation isn’t opening, the A/V system is down, and there’s a car alarm blaring right outside the window. But if speakers utilize the teachings and techniques of improv, they can learn to overcome this fear and actually enjoy flying by the seat of their pants.
