Get Energized! 5 Tips to Create Energy in Your Virtual Presentations

DeFinis Communications

This morning I was speaking to a client who has worked remotely for many years. He told me he was comfortable giving presentations virtually in the past because prior to the stay-at-home orders he travelled 50-60% of the time, meeting customers face-to-face, cultivating relationships and delivering important customer product demonstrations. He enjoyed a nice balance between giving virtual and live presentations and effortlessly toggled between the two.

After a Very Very Bad Week - Opening to Mysticism

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

It was only Thursday. The job numbers hadn't even come out yet. I was unware that what had been a safe haven from COVID-19 - Lucas County, Ohio - was experiencing an ongoing rise of cases.    But I was already done. So, I did what I had done six months ago when at a spiritual and emotional bottom. I contacted Lord Shadow, at Once in a Blue Moon for a tarot reading. By phone this time in COVID-19 times.

I Got a Good Diet for You: No Car

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

With remote working becoming more standard, it's possible to ditch the car. There's no more of the daily commute to work or trips to pitch to prospects. The obstacle to going carless, of course, is being a parent. Unlike in the immigrant neighborhoods of old New York, families make cars necessary. But for the rest of us, carelessness can shift into  the  strategy for both wellness and radical frugality. First, the wellness part.

The biggest reason your new cleaning policy may not change anything and what your email really has to say to sell

SpeakerSue Says...

One of the most exciting parts of doing what I do – providing sales and communication training to teams throughout the world – is learning from my clients. Yesterday, a corporate planner from a multi-national organization, and I, enjoyed a robust conversation about communicating with her leaders. She talked about how concerned those leaders are about the health and well-being of their associates. They are frozen – but not letting it go!

Luxury Loses Its Cool - Neiman Marcus Files for Bankruptcy, Anna Wintour's Branding in Play

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

America may be returning to its Common Man roots. Yeah, in taste and spending, we're back to Puritan minimalism. Luxury? So pre-COVID-19.    Stranglehold on fashion that Anna Wintour had? Social networks put the tools to be a fashionista in anyone's hands. Designers got the hang of directly draping their clothes on the celebrity and not need the establishment media like Vogue any more. All that has contributed to Neiman Marcus' filing for bankruptcy.

The Dream Job of Working in a Cultural Institution in Manhattan.

Darkness falls fast in The Time of the Coronavirus. That includes cultural institutions. At one time, those prestigious organizations in Manhattan seemed invulnerable. After all, big brandname players are associated with them.

BuzzFeed - 2nd Round of Cost-Cutting to Keep 2020 Losses Under $20 Million

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Again, the head of BuzzFeed Jonah Peretti has to turn to cost-cutting - for a second time. The first time around it was because of the arrival of COVID-19. He announced he would no longer take a salary until the crisis was over and did a graduated pay cut for employees. This next round, and it's still in progress, reports the New York Post , results from the falloff of advertising revenue. In the U.S., 68 staffers will be furloughed for three months.

Walt Disney Co. - Tragic Symbol of Great Expectations

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Before COVID-19, those in the Walt Disney Co. loop were high-fiving about success, including the acquisition of 21st Century Fox. In his memoir "Ride of a Lifetime," Bob Iger, then chief executive officer, expressed his deep satisfaction about that growth.      That was then.    Today, documents MarketWatch , Disney reported a profit drop of 90% for the fiscal Q2.

Power Outage - Anna Wintour

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Some people are born with power. Some have power thrust upon them. And, there are those who struggle to acquire power. But it is the rare human being who dies with power. Along the way most lose it. Yesterday it was announced that at NBC Universal, the News Group's Andy Lack has lost his. He will be gone by the end of the month.    And on the way to a power outage seems to be Vogue's long time leader Anna Wintour.

"World on Fire" - Memes of Kindness and Strength

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The PBS' series "World on Fire" has not only caught fire because its WW II turmoil mirrors COVID-19 times. In addition, the scripting is extraordinary. Characters are allowed to change. That can be rare in much of television. Harry Chase, for example, evolves from a selfish impulsive aristocrat to a human being capable of both kindness and strength. Those two character attributes constitute the memes for Sunday's night episode.

"Good Girls" - Over-the-Top Outrageous, Including FBI Agent

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Ratings are down for dark comedy "Good Girls." " And, that downward trajectory might accelerate. That's because the latest in the over-the-top outrageous developments in criminal activity and personal behavior is this: The three are now being pursued by an oddball female FBI agent. Meanwhile, on Sunday night, the three pulled off the robbery of a armored truck. The problem with the atypical FBI agent is that she isn't engaging. Yes, she's that weird.

Commercial Real Estate Disrupted - Trophy Buildings Could Take on Negative Symbolism

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

In New York City, commercial landlords are demanding tenants continue to pony up the rent, even if they aren't using the office space because of COVID-19. However, the subtenants who contracted with We Work for office space contend their situation is different. It mirrors that of gym membership, they argue. When there is not access to those facilities, they contend, they should not have to keep paying the fees and the management should refund them what has been already paid.
