That is, economic policies can reduce deaths of despair.    One of those economic policies would be to raise the minimum wage 10%. The research team headed by William H. Dow found that among those 18 through 64 without a college degree, the 10% boost in the minimum wage resulted in a 3.65 decline in the suicide rate.
