New Power Brands in Brick and Mortar Retail - Goodwill and Salvation Army

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The new power brands in retailing have become discounters associated with respected causes. Meanwhile, the brands of some retail discounters such as the dollar stores have become tarnished, as The Wall Street Journal reports. For example, the big discount weekends at the Austintown Goodwill are splashed on the shopping center's signage. But the prices were about one-third the best in other discounters.

Macy's, Your Pricing Is Too High

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

For the steep discounts, a few minutes inconvenience is a small tradeoff. Discounting is everything in retail.   A few Saturdays ago, I purchased four brandname tops and one brandname pair of slacks at Penney for a little over $40. I was able to apply two $10 coupons to that purchase.  In the Tucson, Arizona Mall, Macy's and JCPenney stand almost side-by-side. In the fitting rooms and checkout lines in Penney, shoppers wait patiently for service.

Items such as paper for the printer can be more than a dollar less in discount retailers. Essentially the Staples rewards version was that the points accrued during purchases provided actual dollars off other purchases. in points, that would be deducted from the purchase of a printer cartridge. The lawsuit contended that Staples didn't make clear how points are calculated when buyers present discount coupons.

I purchased them all for under a hundred bucks. emails coupons for even more off the discounted price. You can't sell, at least not to Everywoman, unless you are providing an extreme bargain. Here at the Tucson, Arizona Mall, Macy's and J.C. Penney are based in the same section. As I drive in, Macy's is on the left, J.C. on the right. I always head right. Once in J.C. I gleefully endure long lines to get into the dressing room and to then check out.

Wal-Mart Needs Loyalty Program

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Through its loyalty program, I can get 30 or more cents off each gallon of gas I purchase at its gas station. In addition, the rewards program gives me access to all the weekly and longer-term special discounts on grocery purchases. There is trouble in the grocery aisle at Wal-Mart, reports BusinessInsider. Competitor Kroger, although more expensive, is siphoning off customers. One reason is that Kroger has a smoothly running loyalty or rewards program. And Wal-Mart has none.

Wal-Mart Has To Blow Itself Up

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

On the first Wednesday of the month they remind me to use my senior discount. With my Kroger card I am entitled to major discounts on food items. And, each purchase earns points for discounts on gasoline. Wal-Mart could eventually go the way of Staples. At one time they were both category leaders. Now they are shuttering stores. For Wal-Mart, that will number 154. It's not that retail is dead. Sure, we know online retail is doing quite well.

That's when other discount retailers such as the dollar stores are empty.  So, on September 2nd, I purchased a bed and frame, new. For those over-62, such as myself, there is also a discount. In Austintown, Ohio, the Goodwill Store at 6000 Mahoning Avenue is packed with shoppers.   One reason is that Goodwill Retail has established itself as the best value brand around.  Plus,

Craig Strachan - Keep Talking!

First of all full disclosure; Cybercellar gave me a R100 discount voucher to try out their website with the aim of writing a blog post about it “if you feel that we are worth mentioning, we believe we are!, Will I purchase from them again? it will be appreciated.” Well they gave me R100 to spend on wine; of course I am going to use it! And I am going to mention my experience because in some ways it was amazing, and in some ways about the worst I have ever experienced.

That 20-Buck Difference - Office Max Probably on Short Time

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

At the nearby Office Max the cost is $74+, but not the $75 which makes it eligible for a Rewards discount. When I went to Office Max to complain about receiving what I perceived as misguided advice on a laptop purchase, the manager seemed aloof. A toner cartridge for my Brother printer goes for about $53 bucks in Best Buy, in the Boardman, Ohio mall. The latter is enough by itself to leave me with a bad taste in my mouth for Office Max.

Food Shopping - It's an Old-fashioned Price War

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The traditional supermarket, such as Giant Eagle, is pitted against brick and mortar retailers branded from the get-go as discounters. However, for the bulk of our groceries we probably buy at a discounter. Pricing is what determines purchasing decisions in this category. A sign of the times, the main drag in rural Austintown, Ohio has a number of competing food retailers. They include Giant Eagle, Wal-Mart, Aldi, Dollar General and Marc's.
