Meanwhile, the brands of some retail discounters such as the dollar stores have become tarnished, as The Wall Street Journal reports. They are being targeted for everything from allegedly selling merchandise after the expiration date to pushing full-service grocers out of low-income neighborhoods.  But the prices were about one-third the best in other discounters.

A steep discount shouldn't be a buy signal.   Ask  for a senior discount. At Hillbrook residential rental complex I had to request the $25 monthly off senior discount. Oh, no. At the time of this writing - 10:15 A.M. ET, the Dow is down almost 230.
