Native American Day versus Columbus Day

Dahle Communication

I wanted to post this last Monday (since it was Columbus Day in most of the U.S.), In South Dakota, we do not celebrate Columbus Day - we celebrate Native American Day. The reason for this seems simple: 10% of our population is Native American and the legislature wanted to acknowledge them instead of Columbus. When we celebrate Columbus Day, what are we celebrating? When we study Columbus, history books ignore a great deal of what he did.

NASA Confirms Water On Pluto - That Explains Plenty

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

It's possible that, like Christopher Columbus, they could take over earth and exterminate the natives. NASA has documented the presence of water of Pluto. Not long ago, water was also confirmed on Mars. To me that explains a lot. Or, at least it could.

End of Prop 8 - Another blow to Catholic Credibility

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Among the Catholic organizations supporting Proposition 8-type bans has been the Knights of Columbus, based in my town of New Haven.  The Roman Catholic Church, of course, was a key supporter of Prop 8 in California.    According to Catholic ideology, marriage is a sacrament and that sacrament can only occur between a man and a woman.    Well, the legal world differs with that, striking a terrible blow to the credibility of Catholic philosophy.

Roman Catholic Church: Weakened brand

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

A tribute to her is on display at the Knights of Columbus, here in New Haven, Connecticut.  Strong brands which become weak attract the pile-on of brutal investigation and exposes.    That happened to the Taylor/Burton brand as the star couple became sloppy in their film performances.    Now, it's happening over and over again to the once most powerful and enduring global brand: the Roman Catholic Church.

Hypomania: Still source of unique success, but keep it under wraps

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Examples of hypomanics from history, opines Gartner, include: Christopher Columbus. That's how we want our leaders, employees, employers, vendors and even clients/customers.    This era, so full of economic shocks, doesn't welcome the hypomanic persona.    Sure, engage in this excessive energy output behind the scenes, but on the stage of professional life, keep it under wraps.    There's more.    Society is unforgiving.
