Biographies of Famous Personalities You Know - No, Readers Don't Want TMI about You

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

That can create the makings of an outstanding biography.  And therefore, information and insight about you should play a major role in that biography. The 2015 biography of Gore Vidal "Sympathy for the Devil " seems to fall into the latter category. The author of that Vidal biography, Michael Mewshaw, had plenty to do just trying to capture that enigmatic politico, media commentator, novelist, and non-fiction writer.

"Television: A Biography" Could Have Been a Very Useful Book

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

So, David Thomson had almost a bulletproof subject when he wrote the 2016 book "Television: A Biography." The book, which is a memoir of television, too much resembles a memoir of himself. The book doesn't engage. A former brandname in marketing paid me to assess the draft of his book. Since this was to be his first book and his brand equity had become low, that wouldn't sell. Very few can pull both off in one book

52 Books in 52 Weeks - 2014 Challenge Wrap-Up

Speak and Deliver

Below is my list of 52 books (which turned into 61 as I added new books along the way) that I set a goal to read and review in 2014. I only made it through 39 books, with the final review posted earlier today - but I feel like it was a successful year of reading nonetheless. The others are ''deadheads'', books I haven''t finished or, mostly, haven''t even started. Estimated stats are about 5000 actual book pages combined with 160 hours of audio.

As I finish each one, I''ll talk about it, either here (for speaking books) or on my new blog which will be part of the revamped RichHopkins.com.
