Derivative: Aggregation/piggybacking on news destroying art of writing

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

There was a time when writers, even those in commercial media jobs, had to dig within themselves for material. That's still what Don Draper does on "Mad Men." " There was an art to it.  Creativity was demanded.  So was emotion. Now, writers, called "content-providers," have to operate in fast time.  They surf the web for material they can collect and repackage.  That's called a day's work.

The site is an aggregator of 400 publishers.   Since the wildly successful and highly influential Drudge Report brought aggregation mainstream, from the get-go KNEWZ readers will understand how it operates.  Could Rupert Murdoch be The Google Slayer? Maybe, in time. Yesterday his "baby" News Corp rolled out KNEWZ. The New York Post , which is owned by News Corp, describes what that launch was all about.

Complex Ghostwriting Process for E-books - Compensation = $2,5000 (yes, it's come to this)

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Our journalist, aggregator and admin do much of the work for you, so all you have to do is WRITE! Book ghostwriters had once been the elite in the field of communications. They were well-paid, all the way up to $100k a book. The average was about $40k. Also, they were treated with reverence.

DeFinis Communications

Rather than a search engine, Alltop is a content aggregator. They group these collections—or “aggregations”—into individual web pages, where they display the five most recent headlines of the information sources as well as their first paragraph. Whether you’re looking for an intriguing story, an interesting example, or a new data point to build out the content of your presentation, Alltop.com is an excellent resource to use and one I recommend to my clients.

LinkedIn - It knows plenty

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The sweet spot in LinkedIn is all the data it collects about us professionals, how it can collect that in real time, and how it can aggregate it so that even the White House is clamoring for it.    That's why investors are going for the stock even though the P/E ratio is bizarre. For the financial information company Motley Fool I look at this LinkedIn phenomenon.    Here you can take a peek. careers Current Affairs Selling Web/Tech

Coronavirus - First Shoe to Fall

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The influential conservative aggregator site Drudge Report is posting that information on the left hand side. What impeachment? The headline space goes to developments in the coronavirus epidemic and the impacts. Today, part of the double coronavirus headlining is the first economic shoe to fall. That's Forbes analysis of the drying up of air traffic between the US and China and China and the US. That is hurting airlines per se.

Knowledge is power when presenting

The Presenter's Blog

Whatever your subject might be, there will be specialist news outlets, e-zines, interest groups, bloggers, and information aggregators. When we make a presentation we occupy the space defined by Peter Drucker as that of a “Knowledge Worker”, someone who “works primarily with information”. Our goal is to inform and persuade. Information is the bedrock of our ability to do that. It’s therefore essential that as presenters we continually feed the mind in the same way we would feed the body.

Drudge Report, As Expected, Features Hillary Clinton's Big Day With The Press

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Just as expected, the conservative Drudge Report quickly aggregated and posted the negative headlines from coverage of Hillary Clinton's press conference on use of personal email when on government duty. Not only were the best of the take-downs posted on the left-hand side. In addition, there were two headline excerpts posted in the middle. Above them was an unflattering photo of a frantic-looking Clinton.

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

"We have aggregated the data, including from social networks such as Twitter and LinkedIn. Here is the probability that X and Y candidates will get the nomination from their party." " That kind of report, derived from data analytics, could have more influence during Campaign 2016 than the rhetoric from commentators such as Peggy Noonan at The Wall Street Journal.

Blogging - Much Much More That 15 Minutes Of Fame

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

To my surprise one of the unintended consequences of blogging has been for photos of me to be aggregated on Bing. Most already know the benefits of blogging, at least is it's done "right." " "Right" includes having down cold search engine optimization, aligning posting with breaking news, creating catchy headlines, and maintaining a provocative point of view.

"Real Life M.B.A." - Jack Welch's Book Has 15 Customer Reviews V. Peter Thiel's 838

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Aggregate those two numbers and we get a powerful story about the current strength of a thought-leader brand. The numbers on Amazon.com provide insight into who's up and who's down. But you have to look at them as a composite.   On the one hand, Jack Welch's new book "Real Life M.B.A." " is ranked about 58. But that number should never be considered in isolation.

THE NEW YORK POST: You bet, we all read it, both right and left

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

For both bloggers and mainstream media it's the source for the stories we will either piggyback on or simply aggregate.  THE NEW YORK POST, full of gossip, sensationalism, and right wing opinions, is the tabloid we all read, mostly first thing in the morning and then a few times during the day.    Incidentally, it frequently has a legal story before any of the established Law.com publications.

BigBusiness - Back to Pre-Tort Reform

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

MS, as well as other states such as Ohio, have filed lawsuits against individual companies in the BigPharma aggregate. Tort reformers position and package the iconic $246 billion Tobacco Master Settlement as pure evil. Some of them contend the success of that litigation, spearheaded by state attorneys general, was the platform for the later asbestos and lead paint litigation.    In the front lines of that state-level legal war on BigTobacco had been Michael Moore.

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Essentially it's an aggregation platform. As an aggregation platform, it included and still includes links to news and commentary which represent opposing points of view. The conservative Drudge Report  is, in digital time, a mature medium. It dates back to 1996. Yet, it ranks number-three in page views for digital sites. Why has the Drudge Report thrived when so many other digital-only media properties, such as Gawker, no longer exist? Here are 5 reasons.

Rotten Tomatoes - Yet Another Example of How We Resist Traditional Marketing

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

It aggregates all the consumer and critic reviews. Rotten Tomatoes is the go-to site and probably the only one we check before deciding to pony up the money for a film. The result: 2 numbers on a scale of 1 to 100. If either or both of those numbers are low, the odds are we won't spend our money on that film. No, we don't do "further investigation" and retrieve ponderous reviews by the official film critics. Who has the time! No one.

Matt Drudge a happy man: AOLHuff stock at all-time low

So seems the situation with conservative Matt Drudge who invented the digital aggregate.  Sometime political positions are more than positions.    Sometimes they are hooks in our soul.    Soon enough liberal Arianna Huffington imitated it.    Tim Armstrong who heads AOL saw Huffington's site as useful to him and bought it and her services for millions. THE DAILY CALLER - When its content goes viral

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

Currently, what I encounter is essentially an aggregator site with predictable exclusive opinions.  For a conservative web publication, THE DAILY CALLER  is amazing in its graphics, tone, and content.    Tucker Carlson has become a digital migrant.    But that's not enough to make it a force of influence.    On the web influence comes only one way:  When a piece goes viral.

David Messerschmitt & Double Lives - Happens All The Time

Jane Genova: Speechwriter - Ghostwriter

The aggregate of who we are is frequently quite different than the successful professional we are presenting to our constituencies. The unsealed police reports confirmed what many suspected: Respected lawyer at DLA Piper, seemingly happily married man, and loving uncle to nephews in Ohio, David Messerschmitt, was living a double life. That news was not the surprise. What might have stunned those of us associated with media was the sustained heavy traffic on articles providing the details.
