There was a time when writers, even those in commercial media jobs, had to dig within themselves for material. That's still what Don Draper does on "Mad Men." " There was an art to it. Creativity was demanded. So was emotion. Now, writers, called "content-providers," have to operate in fast time. They surf the web for material they can collect and repackage. That's called a day's work.
