You’re not thanking them for sitting and hanging on your every word, rather for inviting you, organizing the event, contributing questions, etc. 8221; For speeches outside TM, I agree that saying “Thank You” is OK, especially if you have been giving a long seminar. If I were giving a seminar, or other training, I would ALWAYS thank the audience. There’s a great discussion going on at The Official Toastmasters International Members Group on LinkedIn. If you’re interested in speaking at events, I have some ideas on how you might get that going. And then a little while later, I was a paid speaker. And now, I’m a decently paid speaker.
Last week my team was at The Citrix Synergy event and Garr was the keynote speaker on opening day. Even during the seminars here at the shop, each day was a little bit different based on who was in the audience and what he knew about them. Web seminars (AKA “webinars” or “webcasts”) are online seminars or presentations used to synchronously engage remote audiences with any content that can be presented from a computer desktop. Web seminars don’t replace face-to-face presentations, but any speaker who hasn’t added live remote instruction to their toolkit is missing a unique opportunity. I'm on my way to Silicon Valley for Presentation//Reboot , a one-day seminar that promises to reframe the way I think and dramatically improve my next presentation!  I've got my very used Presentation Zen and slide:ology books in hand, although they're giving away free copies at the seminar.  It will be great to connect with these incredible minds, as well as meeting my fellow seminar attendees and talking I'm sitting in the new JetBlue terminal at JFK , T5 (fantastic, by the way), waiting to board my flight and I couldn't be more excited.  While I expect to hear a lot
Even though it's the size of a shoebox, I had a few dining selections and the internet is free (which should be a LAW now in all airports and hotels, IMO).
