There are a few roadblocks that could get in the way, like lack of internet connection or simply the disruption that is caused when a presenter has to leave PowerPoint, open another program, and hope the demo goes smoothly. One way to mitigate the risk of disruption and maintain a smooth, hands-free, presentation is to record the demo prior to the presentation. Often presenters want to demonstrate software or simply go online to a website during their presentation. I know there are some popular screen capture programs like Camtasia and Adobe Captivate, but those are pricey.

Keynotes

There is absolutely no reason in the world you should use anything other than Keynote . There is an astounding difference (not an exaggeration) between the tools, canvas placement, typographic control, and overall aesthetics in Keynote compared to PowerPoint.
