Most professional speakers become SME's, or so-called Subject Matter Experts, in certain fields, and are able to offer these topics as either a keynote or breakout session speech. I've looked at speakers' websites, and have come across more than a few who list at least a dozen or more topics. Tags: keynotes signature speeche This is the time of year I am working on speaking dates for spring 2010. Deciding what to offer as a topic is something that is always chaleenging.

Hash tags on each session as well as the event might help. In particular, don't miss the keynote or general session speakers. I'll never forget many years ago I was doing a breakout session for a big real estate company. We then went to the closing general session an hour later, the big shot keynote speaker made a fool of himself by using material I had gone over already. When you are speaking at an event that has multiple speakers, try to listen to as many of the other speakers as you can. By doing this you are able to add a polish to your talk and to the event as a whole.

I spoke at a conference last week, where the keynote speaker rehashed several significant and memorable stories that she had used the year before at the same conference, but in a breakout session. I'm wondering if this is a faux pas, or if it's okay for speakers to recycle the same content for pretty much the same audience, especially if one presentation is a breakout and one is a keynote. . .
