So don’t just talk at us the whole time.  1.  0160; Lose the Power Point – when you put up Power Point slides you ask the audience to look at 2 – or 3 – things at once: you, your slides, perhaps a printout of your slides.

So I’ve talked you out of writing the book (yet) and you’re thinking about a proposal.  0160; You need to know these people and then you need to write a book (that will come later) that they care passionately about.  0160; Author’s Bio For some reason, these are hard for most people to write.  0160; Let’s take the essential sections of one in turn and expand on each a bit. Now that the dust has settled, I can look back on our committee-wrangling experience and realize that we did pretty well on all three of these points, so despite my worry and frustration throughout the process, we still made good choices along the way and eventually brought the whole committee along with us. I’m going to start a series of blogs on writing, selling, and marketing a business book.  0160; The next thing he did was write a book, in order to sustain that career.  0160; Brad Pitt could get all the speaking gigs he wants, without ever writing a book, but he’s presumably having more fun and making more money doing his movie thing.  0160; A book is still the ticket to a successful public speaking career – and a bestseller the ticket to a very successful public speaking career – so those serious about public speaking need to embrace the magic, mystery, and heartbreak of the book world.

Post-World War II affluence gave lots of us writers day jobs.  0160; Now, post-affluence, too many of us writers will have to get day jobs in which we don't write, at least not the kind of writing we were used to doing. 0160; Many were writing but it was press releases, website content, manuals, e-learning materials, posts for clients's blogs and even tweets.  0160; Some, such as in the Fortune 500, paid wonderfully.  0160; Others, such as on magazines and newspapers, provided influence, although the pay might not have been great. 

Believe me, I never thought that I would see the day when the writing market returned, at least for us freelancers.  A Could the downsizing in full-time writing jobs be working in our favor?  Tags: Writin 0160; A major assignment actually came in and interviews for others kept the phone busy.  0160;
