Visualization – …it works. Professional boxers, when shadow boxing, do not throw random punches — they are visualizing an opponent and quite literally sparring with that visualization. Elite athletes, musicians, actors and dancers utilize visualization regularly — Todd Hargrove has an excellent article on visualization in athletics here . Fear doesn’t just exist for the days and hours prior to an event.

Gradually tools are being developed to make it easier for you as the presenter to manage the backchannel.
would love to see more tools available which work within the most common slideware – PowerPoint and Keynote. There is an add-in to do this with PowerPoint 2007 called Slide Tweet , but you need Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio Tools for Office. Presenting while people are tweeting is challenging – but also adds a new dimension to the presentation experience for your audience. I

It seems, at least in my stomping grounds, that it’s just accepted that laser pointers, being presentation tools are wholly appropriate. Use of laser pointers is most often a symptom of a greater problem; namely the slides are not designed appropriately as visual reinforcements. While trying to listen to the presenter (1), you’re looking at the presenter’s (2) hand with the laser pointer to gain an initial visual We’ve seen these people. They’re all over the place.

I’ve repeatedly read about visualization and its effectiveness in helping presenters get ready for a presentation. This tool calms the nerves of those who fear giving presentations. The tennis player relied on visualization to prevent him from falling behind in his game. Presenters also find their presentations go smoother when they see what they get into.

Presenting large While most of us do not have the skills or tools to create a video like this, many people can actually present live to similar visual displays that they create themselves using only off-the-shelf tools like PowerPoint or Keynote (and photo-editing software). Of course, if you present to visuals in this genre on a stage, you may use less text on screen and slow it way down at times — even allowing the screen to fade to black — to allow the visuals the opportunity to support your narration
