From the CNN story: Roughly 3 million people in the United States stutter, according to the National Institutes of Health. Tags: research on women and speaking stuttering speaker scienc For those who stutter, this research is big news: Three genetic mutations have been identified in the brains of people who stutter, located in the part of the brain where speech is controlled. It's not a cure, and may not be the only cause, but finding any source for stuttering is what's significant, researchers say.
