They broke into factories at night to smash hundreds of new power machines that they believed had deskilled them, and were enabling employers to use unskilled workers. The wikiphile in me regains ascendance, and whispers with alarm in my ear, “But what if we lost all social media overnight?” They deify The Machine and grant it awesome power, forgetting that Man created the Machine. Beware the Luddite within. I

Even when using a microphone , you still need to project your voice; the microphone makes you louder, but if you're whispering or mumbling, it's only going to magnify your whispering or mumbling. Express your natural power and confidence through your voice and body. I met with two clients this week who are both dealing with the same problem: playing small . Both clients are used to "talking with their hands" in regular conversation, but when they give a presentation, their gestures become restrained and tight.

Of course, random pacing, due to nervousness, doesn’t count as purposeful movement. Think: walk, plant your feet; walk again, plant your feet again.
Make your PowerPoint visual . An agenda for the presentation is helpful for the audience as well as the speaker. Overall, however, words on a slide don’t work as visual stimulation—no matter how often you change them. If you choose to use PowerPoint, add changes with photographs and dramatic graphs. Show brief video clips that support your points. Just make sure that everything you use is relevant

People used to whisper to each other or pass hand-scribbled notes during presentations. Your colleagues can answer questions for you David Harrison: I knew some of my colleagues who’d helped with the presentation were following the event but what I couldn’t imagine was how powerful a force having your co-workers liveblogging whilst you were talking could be. Your voice is the source of power. FDR, Martin Luther King, Churchill used the power of their voice. Slow down, add a pause, whisper . . .use Did you know that great speakers are often nervous with butterflies in their stomach before giving a presentation? And there are many actors/actresses who can not speak to live audiences without cue cards.

Lots of people think their stories are great, so how do *you* evaluate when a story is good/powerful/useful in what you do?
I am standing mid-stage, “saying just a second, we’ll try that again” and then the teacher walks out and whispers in my ear “It’s not going to work”, so I made a joke of it and told abbreviated version of the other bits sans-music.
