When I read this post, I thought, "That's just exactly what I wanted to say about improv skills!" (I've added links and some boldfacing to emphasize a few points.) You can find out more about Angela here --please do check out her blog, full of great ideas and inspiration: You show up to your speaking engagement only to realize that your PowerPoint presentation isn’t opening, the A/V system is down, and there’s a car alarm blaring right outside the window. Editor's note: I'm delighted to repost with permission this guest post from the excellent blog of speaker coach Angela DeFinis, who works in California's Silicon Valley and Bay Area.

One of my passions in life is helping my clients and those in my online community improve and strengthen their speaking and presentation skills so that their message will have a powerful impact on all those who hear it. As such, my company, DeFinis Communications, gives people the training, tools and resources to choose the right words and say them with skill and confidence.
Because of this commitment to performance mastery, our clients develop greater poise, power and passion whenever they speak —whether in the boardroom or the dinner table.

In Part 1 of this blog we talked about the importance of teaching children public speaking skills and using The Fun Theory to make the experience enjoyable and effective. The last thing anyone wants is to raise a child who suffers from glossophobia – the fear of public speaking. None of us want our children to contribute to these statistics.

Recently I was invited to participate in the launch of a new speaking site: Speaking Pro Central . The aim of the site is to collect and organize the best content from blogs, and other sites about all things speaking. Speaking Pro Central will collect the information in a place where it’s easy to find current and relevant content.
I felt honoured and priveleged to have been asked.

You see much has been written about Obama’s speaking skill. He uses rhetoric and oratorical skills that wouldn’t be out of place in Ancient Greece or Rome.
It can be used as a criticism alluding to the fact that a lot of politicians uses rhetoric when they should just come out and speak honestly.
So I wanted to share how we the ordinary If you have to make presentations as part of your job you might be able to pick up some useful tips from this post. This post is a kind of follow up to my post Lessons from President Obama’s Inaugural Speech .
