For those who stutter, this research is big news: Three genetic mutations have been identified in the brains of people who stutter, located in the part of the brain where speech is controlled. From the CNN story: Roughly 3 million people in the United States stutter, according to the National Institutes of Health. It's not a cure, and may not be the only cause, but finding any source for stuttering is what's significant, researchers say. About 60 percent of those with the disorder have a family member who also stutters.

Lady Liberty Symbolizes All That’s Right about the United States in a Uniquely Powerful Way
This year, in the weeks before 9/11, I started to think about what I believe is the most powerful symbol of all that is right about the United States, not just for Americans but for people around the world. In the days of the great ocean liners and before the dominance of air travel, she gave a warm symbolic welcome to the United States. This may be more about loving the Statue of Liberty than about marketing. So I might be slightly off-topic.

In the blogging world, I have had the great opportunity to get to know different people throughout the United States and the World that I would not have had any connection if I had not gotten involved on-line. This site is dedicated to collecting all of the various blogs, news, and other resources on speaking and communication that are out there. Additionally, I have learned a lot about communication, branding, marketing, etc. from reading the different blogs and engaging in the discussion of those blogs.

One can only imagine the original ad agency pitch to the company when they suggested having the company president and a talking golden retriever be the centerpiece of a national marketing campaign.
