That’s because I think it’s much easier for you as a presenter if there’s just one application open on your laptop – rather than having to click between applications during your presentation.
During a presentation (as opposed to a panel discussion) it will normally be most effective to only show the twitterstream at certain times during your presentation (see my post Should you display the Twitterstream? I have a great laptop!
- Here is my approach to assuring the presentation shows up on the projector ( note: the following tutorial is based on the Nvidia Control Panel as most of show computers currently run their graphics cards ).
This is just a shortcut to the control panel that does not show me any of the real settings.
PowerPoint presentations given to a live audience usually involve the computer being attached to a projector. And sometimes the technical issues of getting the computer and projector to cooperate are the downfall of the presenter...

Though this list is geared towards one-hour sessions rather than panels and workshops, some of the same principles apply. The tweets included the #sxswfsn or cited her name AND were published within the start/stop timeline of the live panel so as to narrow our inquiry to live use of Twitter during the presentation. Of Nearly 10% of the tweets during the live presentation included direct references to others Twitter IDs as the source of a quote, object of a reply or debate, or a person of interest to the tweeter. You can just set up your video camera or the iSight in your laptop, and shoot your own speech. If you are asked to moderate a panel? Use your programs presentation mode so that you can see at least the current slide and the next slide on the laptop screen, as well as a timer.
