This week I went to my first Pecha Kucha night in Wellington, New Zealand.
Pecha Kucha was developed as a presentation format to allow design and creative types to share their passions and show off their work. You have to present with 20 slides and each slide is shown for 20 seconds. Photo by Olly Barrett
The format is very tight.

Can medical doctors, scientists, researchers, and engineers, and other specialists in technical fields benefit in anyway by learning how a graphic designer or interaction designer thinks? When I speak around the world I often put up a slide that asks people to make as many sentences as they can beginning with the word "Designers...." The goal of this activity is to get people thinking about Most people do not really think about design and designers, let alone think of themselves as designers. But what, if anything, can regular people — teachers, students, business people

Most training conferences in most industries resort to what’s called a panel session. This is where 3 to 5 experts get up on stage and each one, in turn, bores the audience to death.
For a panel to work the panelists must be comfortable disagreeing with, or passionately supporting, each other in front of a crowd. Why do panels still happen? One reason.
