Text is harder to read from a screen than it is from paper, partly because the resolution of the screen is so much lower (less dots per character) and also because the light is projected rather than reflected. With Text can also be formatted in terms of point size, colour, font, spacing, column width and alignment, although these aspects of typography are now more normally handled through what is called a ‘cascading style sheet’ (CSS), set up by a designer, leaving the author to worry about the content. We start our tour of the elements that make up all our online communications with the medium we all take for granted – simple text.

Exploring the question's design, the question asks me to consider emotionally charged, polarizing topics (adultery + celebrity fandom), then cram-wrap my answer into a yes/no format by presupposing there is only one black-or-white definition of "being a fan". Loaded Questions unfairly manipulate the responder/audience by projecting a contrived reality onto others. A guy I know just asked this question on his Facebook feed: Are you a fan of Tiger Woods: Yes/No My first reaction was to think not about my answer, but about the question. Why was I uncomfortable with it?

What could possibly be wrong about too much design in our presentations? Presentations such as training programs, sales presentations, project status updates, and reporting on financial or operational results. In these types of presentations, when there is too much design in the graphics and movement, the risk is that it is perceived as slick. Just so we are all clear, I’m not talking about large keynote style presentations that have a significant entertainment component. Almost none of us will be working on presentations like Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” presentation

But it seemed like it. In the presentation I saw, random buzzwords that the speaker used in his narrative kept fading in-an-out of the PowerPoint slides projected behind him. Personally, I find this word-mood board style of presentation design distracting and disturbing. Tags: PowerPoint Presentation desig architecture. revolutionary.
My young teenage mind was old enough to grasp the enormity of such a project, but still a little surprised that dad didn’t just do it himself. Let’s face it, designers aren’t cheap - especially good ones . So hiring a designer or a design firm to build your world-class presentation might be out of your price range. My dad is a handyman. Not professionally, but a handyman just the same.
Ouch! Airslide’s Nat Hunter speaking at Design Event 09 in Newcastle Check out the project’s process at Airslides’s Blog: [link] It is also argues that designers have the ability to see a complex situation, then turn around and communicate it to others. Check out the project’s process at Jarvis’s Simplicity does not necessarily mean skimping out on the meat of your presentation. When handled correctly, complex scenarios and data can still be included while being transformed into something that is easily comprehensible to the average

My previous Propaganda, PowerPoint and You inspired Olivia Mitchell to launch a group blogging project. She asked other bloggers to write about what they'd like to see in PowerPoint design in 2009. In 2008, I was often an audience member where presentation content and design relied almost exclusively on propaganda techniques. The Passion of the PowerPoint. I'm stunned by the passion that PowerPoint (yes, humble PowerPoint!)
Olivia Mitchell has gathered blog posts and e-mails from 40 contributors on our wishes and fantasies for PowerPoint design in 2009 . But that's not all: she has gone on to analyze and synthesize the posts around some central themes: whether design matters, simplicity vs. detail, design and presentation issues agreed upon by most contributors, and predictions for 2009. Olivia has pulled together a wealth of information to be delved into, and I can't wait to start reading everyone's opinions. Make sure to add your thoughts in the comments! ...Tags:
