Follow rhetorical principles and you can create your own quotable soundbite.
Then he coached Anne Brennan, a woman with no speaking experience whatsoever, to win a standing ovation at the Liberal Democratic Party annual conference by using rhetorical techniques. Overnight, Max became an in-demand presentation coach and eventually left academic life to teach rhetorical presenting techniques to business people. Max Atkinson claims there’s no magic to it. There’s no need to go to a quote book.

The sweeping grand speechifying by Jack, Bobby, and Ted Kennedy has been replaced by the next generation's conversational rhetoric. Senator Ted Kennedy by sons Ted and Patrick had the tone and content of, well, Everyman. Question: Will the old-style fire-eating rhetoric of the Southern Church also cool down?

He also happens the guy who has lovingly put together American Rhetoric [link] for us all to enjoy—I virtually live on that site.
He wonderfully analyzed 6 speeches, put them in their historical context and explains how the situation, content, structure, style, delivery and rhetoric played a role in the speeches. I love the book “ Great Speeches for Better Speaking ” by Michael E. Eidenmuller, Ph.D.

Rhetoric is boring . Many of these books have several chapters on rhetoric, or the construction of arguments. I’d say 30-40% of the books have nearly the same textbook structure of chapters and content. The first draft of the book is done , and to help get there I read over 50 books on public speaking. Many popular ones, old and new, as well as books by preachers, teachers, salesmen, infomercial stars, and professors.

The book is much deeper than just Job’s delivery style, Gallo has codified it into practical lessons and insights around content construction and corporate theater. Make note of how Jobs asks rhetorical questions to advance the story. “Why When he introduced the concept of replacing the keyboard with a touch screen, he rhetorically asked, “How are we going to communicate with this?” Source: Business Week

If you ignore your feelings about politics, religion etc … and examine the speech strictly from a rhetorical point of view, it was a masterpiece.
contention: “On the other hand …” and “At the same time …”
cite flaws in the rhetoric. In yesterday’s post , I said that Obama’s speech at Fort Hood was not his best ever, but I didn’t say which speech I thought was his best.
Most of Obama’s speeches are good, but his best speeches, in my opinion, were the most difficult to deliver.

We do not take a position on the efficiency of new technologies for delivering educational content or their efficacy of competing for users’ time and attention. Our concern is not to critique the new social media as extensions of a shallow and historicall amnesiac mass culture, nor alternatively to take a position on the efficiency of new technologies for delivering educational content or their efficacy at meeting students "where they live," and thereby entering into the competition for their time and attention. home submissions about dhq dhq people contact Spring 2009: v3 n2 Current Issue Previous Issues Winter 2009: v3 n1 Summer 2008: v2 n1 Summer 2007: v1 n2 Spring 2007: v1 n1 Indexes Title Author ISSN 1938-4122 Announcements Call for Reviewers Call for Submissions DHQ: Digital Humanities Quarterly Spring 2009 Volume 3 Number 2 v3:n2 >> | Print Article | Taporware Tools List Words Find Text Collocation Designing Choreographies for the "New
