There�s nothing like an upcoming speaking engagement to inspire creating product to have available for purchase at that program! We hear it so often said in the NSA family to use the skills we have, utilize our expertise. Some of the best advice I�ve heard in our industry is to: Have products that support your topic; speak ONLY on topics on which you have product; and Leverage presentations. When did you first start speaking? How long until speaking became your full-time job?
Through recommendations from my executive clients, Rotary Clubs and men’s breakfast clubs invited me to speak. Afterwards, the audience members often came into my salon. Q. In 1976, when I was San Francisco’s #1 men’s hairstylist, I started delivering seminars to hairstylists for a hair product company called Markham.

Here is an interesting lesson from Darren LaCroix, the 2001 world champ of speaking. speech at NSA a few years ago, it was copied by somebody overseas just a couple of months later. At the recent National Speakers Association (NSA) Convention in Phoenix, AZ I had the opportunity to see Patricia Fripp, CSP, CPAE, give a talk on storytelling.
