Am I wrong, or did the exhibitors pay a lot of money to be there and to do business with attendees? The organizers of the event could have done a couple of things to make this better for everyone involved. Or, in the case of Earl Warren Showgrounds, had the organizers also rented the Warren Hall for the speakers, a smaller space next to the main hall, the expo and speakers could have co-existed in separate buildings altogether. Through the miracle of Google Docs, the conference call attendees are already sending me questions. Whether it's a paid job or an internship learn all you can about the company, school, or other organization you want to work with. This week I'll be connected to a phone audience who wants to know more about how to successfully interview for a competitive internship. It will be a challenge to pick out which questions to answer in 30 minutes. The phone interview has taken the place of the face to face one in many cases.

About 10 minutes into his speech, the conference attendees used Twitter to make fun of the speaker's poor word choice. If conference organizers don't lead -- someone else will! conference planner "best backchannel practice" is to define and promote a short, unique, and memorable conference hashtag for the conference attendees. Short - Twitter only has 140 characters. “Content isn't king. I’ve run a few events myself and a challenge many attendees never think about is how to arrange the day. One of my favorite conferences is GEL - Good Experiences Live (it’s the place that let me run my NYC Sacred architecture tour ), and I asked the organizer Mark Hurst his thoughts on doing this well.
I’m not sure how this compares with other conferences - I can’t speak for them - but I’ll leave it to you to imagine the other When are the breaks? What order should the speakers go in?

Logistically, they require the same things most conferences run on: great speakers, relevant exhibitors and sponsors, and eager attendees. An entire business exists for speakers, conference organizers and what are called speaker’s bureaus, for matching speakers and events together.
They even have a search tool to help organizers find the right speaker for their event.
SB: Most people I know are surprised to learn there is a public speaking economy, an entire network of organizations that help match paid speakers to venues. Most people don’t know it, but some speakers at events they attend are paid to be there. I
