In typical public speaking events, humor is an important part of the presentation. Participants may have been driving all day, working outside in bad weather, pounding a computer, standing behind a hairdresser’s chair — any number of tiring activities. Public Speaking: Speaking to Continuing Education Audiences What does a public speaker need to know about speaking to an audience of licensed professionals who are required to take continuing education units (CEUs) to fulfill their licensing renewal requirements? First, many of them do not want to be in the room listening to a public speaker.

Most of the research studies ask participants to write 15 minutes a day three times a week about traumatic or emotionally-charged events in their lives. Many of the subjects writing about past trauma or emotionally charged events perform and feel better than the “control” subjects.
Future posts will explore writing as a therapeutic, self-help activity.

They both did a great job of presenting for 10-15 minutes, then involving us in an activity, even if that activity was as simple as standing and introducing ourselves to our neighbors, Japanese style of course.
