This week I went to my first Pecha Kucha night in Wellington, New Zealand.
Pecha Kucha was developed as a presentation format to allow design and creative types to share their passions and show off their work. The format is very tight.

The theme is "What would you like to see in PowerPoint slide design in 2009?" Let me then revise Olivia's charter (as did others) to focus on what I'd like to see in PowerPoint, or even just what I'd like to see in presentations in 2009. And, You could bombard them (as did Tom Peters in this example) or you could leave PowerPoint completely out of the picture (as Edward Tufte did in the story at the end of this , my favorite YouBlog post). So that's what I'd like to see from PowerPoint THERE'S AN INTERESTING TOPIC being bandied about by some of us presentation blogger types that you might find valuable.

Then just today, I read this list of critical business communication skills from Joey Asher . But after thinking about it some more, I think I would suggest that the core communication skill required to be effective in business is the ability to inform, persuade, and motivate others in an authentic and engaging manner . To me the bottom line is this…communication skills are the most critical skill to the success of any professional.
