The theme is "What would you like to see in PowerPoint slide design in 2009?" Let me then revise Olivia's charter (as did others) to focus on what I'd like to see in PowerPoint, or even just what I'd like to see in presentations in 2009. And, You could bombard them (as did Tom Peters in this example) or you could leave PowerPoint completely out of the picture (as Edward Tufte did in the story at the end of this , my favorite YouBlog post). So that's what I'd like to see from PowerPoint THERE'S AN INTERESTING TOPIC being bandied about by some of us presentation blogger types that you might find valuable.

I'm no advocate of slides, which tend to serve as projected cue cards even the audience can follow. say if you must use PowerPoint, in 2009, use it to further the discussion with your audience. At the Travolution Summit 2009 , 200 of the 1,150 tweets using the #travsummit hashtag were after the event. So have the twitter display ready to go (use the remote of the datashow projecter to hide the screen) and turn it on just when you want it. In one of the panels I attended they had the breakout screen projecting a twitter search feed ([link] To make it work the moderator made up a conference room tag #PR08 and the people sitting in the audience had a running Twitter is now a reality at many conferences. But that's not all: she has gone on to analyze and synthesize the posts around some central themes: whether design matters, simplicity vs. Olivia has pulled together a wealth of information to be delved into, and I can't wait to start reading everyone's opinions.
