Following up on this post , I've just been reading the results of Dave Paradi's Annoying PowerPoint Survey . I'm not at all surprised by the results. The top three things that annoy people about PowerPoint presentations are: * The speaker read the slides to us - 67.4% * Full sentences instead of bullet points - 45.4% * Text so small I couldn't read it - 45.0% Here's the thing: many of the people who are victims of bad PowerPoint are also the villains perpetrating it! We've been guilty of repeating the myth that people fear public speaking more than anything else, but checked to get the data -- and in fact, snakes are feared more than public speaking, by 56 percent of those surveyed compared to 40 percent who fear public speaking, according to a 2001 Gallup poll. Along with the results of its 21st annual Jobs Report Survey of 9,290 IT professionals, Computerworld published this article entitled " Nine Nontechie Skills that Hiring Managers Wish You Had ." #3 is "an aptitude for public speaking." Think you don't need public speaking skills? It's getting harder and harder to find a job that doesn't require competency in communication and public speaking skills.

One question I am struggling with is whether to load the 2007 or the 2003 version as my primary Office version. Because my surveys show that most corporate clients are running Office 2003 and a number are running even earlier versions, like 2000. But an even bigger cost is the cost of retraining because the user interface is so different between Office 2003 and 2007. I am planning to buy a new laptop next year after the new Core i7 chipset comes to laptops. I
