That’s because I think it’s much easier for you as a presenter if there’s just one application open on your laptop – rather than having to click between applications during your presentation.
There is an add-in to do this with PowerPoint 2007 called Slide Tweet , but you need Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio Tools for Office. Presenting while people are tweeting is challenging – but also adds a new dimension to the presentation experience for your audience. Gradually tools are being developed to make it easier for you as the presenter to manage the backchannel.

I am planning to buy a new laptop next year after the new Core i7 chipset comes to laptops. One question I am struggling with is whether to load the 2007 or the 2003 version as my primary Office version. But an even bigger cost is the cost of retraining because the user interface is so different between Office 2003 and 2007. I still plan to load both versions and run one of them via a virtual machine as I do now so that I can demonstrate the proper version in my workshops.
