" ~Stephen Eggleston Beyond that, go ahead and do some deep breathing and relaxation exercises before you begin, and consciously tell yourself to breathe during the presentation. Let's talk about those things that hold many people back from enjoying public speaking. You may have mad skills, you may have a great personality, you may be a snake charmer with the ability to hypnotically attract everyone in the audience to you.

Exposing ourselves to traditional Japanese aesthetic ideas — notions that may seem quite foreign to most of us — is a good exercise in lateral thinking, a term coined by Edward de Bono in 1967. And I still believe some people -- info junkies like me -- might prefer to get caught up on blog news while they are commuting or exercising. Some people don't like to read. They're not illiterate or uneducated. They simply prefer other modes of communication, entertainment, or information exchange.

Seminars and workshops tend to be longer and more interactive than presentations, incorporating group work, experiential exercises and more interaction between participants. There are a lot of words for what I do when I have a speaking engagement. I give presentations, talks, workshops, seminars and keynotes.

There is an add-in to do this with PowerPoint 2007 called Slide Tweet , but you need Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio Tools for Office. Or if your presentation includes interactive exercises for the audience take those moments to look at the Twitterstream.
Presenting while people are tweeting is challenging – but also adds a new dimension to the presentation experience for your audience. Gradually tools are being developed to make it easier for you as the presenter to manage the backchannel.
