It was with great joy that last month, I uninstalled Office 2004.  The software, PowerPoint 2004 included, were getting on my nerves and there was nothing that suite could do to repair the broken relationship we had.  Not only was I prepared to address software-specific questions, but I was also given a grand opportunity:  a three-way slideware shoot-out. It wore out its welcome. Since then, I signed up to teach a slide design class through the county’s adult & community education program.

Because I so love the way athletic preparation, challenges and accomplishments parallel much of what we face as speakers (and in life in general), I'm going to cover a couple more of the athletes and events I watched over the past few weeks during the Olympic Trials. Recently I wrote about some short presentations I've experienced where the speakers did not seem prepared , even though they had plenty of time. In addition to lack of preparation, several of these speakers made the faux pas of talking about their business more than sharing information to benefit the audience ( features instead of benefits ). She asked us to share how we give away free information or create goodwill, demonstrating I'll confess that these presentations have been given by members of a referrals group I belong to.
